As schools prepare to shut down for Christmas, it’s been anything but quiet for The Wellbeing Crew, as December saw the launch of our Wellbeing Crew Ambassadors programme.

Being rolled out across the West Midlands and Staffordshire, we’re working in schools with KS1 and KS2 students and pastoral care teams, promoting wellbeing and creating our own army of wellbeing ambassadors.

With the teaching day already being jam-packed, issues such as bullying, anxiety, and social exclusion can easily (and understandably) be overlooked by teaching staff. The aim of having wellbeing ambassadors in schools is so that they can help their peers to become better people, and create a calmer, friendlier environment in the playground, classroom, and even at home after the school bell has rung.

We’ve put together a Wellbeing Crew Ambassador Pack, which will be presented to each student who completes the ambassador training with us. The pack includes (contents subject to change)

  • A Wellbeing Crew tote bag
  • Certificate of completion
  • Ambassador badge
  • A Worry Worm
  • Mantras for coping and friendship
  • A comfort bracelet
  • Affirmation stars
  • Verbal coping tools
  • Pick-me-up cards
  • A heart – to show we are loved
  • …. and many other wellbeing aides suitable for KS1 and KS2 pupils

Co-founders of The Wellbeing Crew, Sue and Charlotte, explain “By giving the children coping strategies and tools such as our affirmation stars, and mantras to help them see that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, the ambassadors are fast becoming trusted friends in the playground – which to some can be a challenging environment.”

We’re super-excited for 2023 and aim to be rolling the ambassadors programme out to KS3 groups by the spring.
