And Just Like That …. It’s Half Term!

It's been a mad start to the academic year. In a good way!

It only seems like a week or so ago that we were heading back to school for the start of the new academic year. And now, here we are at the end of October. The clocks have gone back an hour, the shops are awash with Halloween and (dare we say it) Christmas paraphernalia, and it’s half-term week for many.

We can’t believe how busy the first part of the school year has gone for The Wellbeing Crew. We knew it would be a case of hitting the ground running once September kicked it, but it’s hard to believe what we’ve achieved in just eight weeks.

Ambassador Programme

Our regular followers will know that we are passionate about educating schools on the importance of wellbeing. After the successful launch of our Ambassador programme earlier this year, it was a delight to visit Nelson Primary School in Ladywood, and Lodge Primary School in Sandwell to get the next round of Ambassador training underway.

The enthusiasm from both staff and students was overwhelming. The hunger to learn and to help spread the word amongst their peer groups was evident in both schools from the outset.

Craft skills, combined with some serious thought processes, saw the pupils create affirmation cards, painted mindfulness stones, and their well-being pledges. We also covered the benefits of meditation and being there for a friend in need.

We’ll work with many more schools throughout the academic year to build an army of well-being ambassadors throughout the region.

Welcome Danny!

Our team is growing! In September, we welcomed Danny Williams to the team. Danny will be focusing on conflict solutions and professional mediation. With over 15 years experience in the education, community, and sporting sectors, we can’t wait to see the great work that Danny carries out put into action for The Wellbeing Crew.

Talks in Schools

We’re always open to invites to talk in schools, and that’s exactly what Ron did back in September.  The Deputy Head Teacher at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls described Ron’s talk on wellbeing as “Brilliant and engaging”.

It’s feedback like that that makes everything we do worthwhile.

Reflections Programme

It was all about resilience and letting go for the students at Leigh Primary School in Washwood Heath earlier this month.

Getting the pupils to open up about what they worry about helped them to identify what is within their control and, more importantly, what’s outside of their control. We also looked at resilience, and how important it is for our mental health and wellbeing to let go of the things that hinder us in our day-to-day existence.

Half Term. Time To Rest?

It’s been such a busy start to the school year, and whilst Half Term is a welcome interlude, it’s by no means a break. The Wellbeing Crew have a full schedule until the Christmas holidays, but that doesn’t mean that we’ve taken out feet off the gas.

We use the school holidays to plan for future programmes and events, as we want to continue taking our special brand of learning into schools and helping others with all things wellbeing.

Take care and enjoy your half-term break.

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to learn more about our well-being workshops for students and teachers.
