The Wellbeing of Children

Without the experience of happiness and a sense of wellbeing in our lives, it is difficult to thrive and to become the best we can. Our research has shown that a significant number of children in the UK have low levels of wellbeing, this has great impact on their childhood and life chances. We have adopted a proven system in conjunction with Relax Kids training programs and we have enhanced our offering by developing our own range of bespoke training programs to suit your needs. Meeting and exceeding the Ofsted requirements for emotional welfare of pupils is at the heart of everything we do.

Relax Kids has been endorsed by Ofsted inspectors

In a 3-year pilot, Relax Kids helped reduced exclusions from 19 to zero. Relax Kids has helped support vulnerable, gifted and talented children with special needs, autism, ADHD, ADD, tourettes, selective mutism, anger and anxiety issues, low self esteem and behavioural problems

Chill Skills

Children need a protective, loving and secure environment to grow into healthy adulthood. Only when they have put down roots and become grounded in the earth can they develop wings that will carry them freely through life. The aim of this program is to make a contribution to this process. To increase children's self-awareness and self-confidence through breathing and movement. This is a well-structured program that will be delivered weekly.

Ofsted gave the school an 'Outstanding' for emotional wellbeing, personal development and pastoral care

Exam time is the most important part of a child's progression in life, whether they decide to go onto further education or not, and consequently, it becomes one of the most stressful times.

The Childline national exam stress survey revealed that 96% of the 1300 that completed the survey felt anxious about exams and revision, with 59% feeling pressure from their parents to do well and 64% saying they have never received any support with exam stress.

Mindfulness

The mindfulness meditation practice is very powerful and can encourage children to become less anxious and more focused. Mindfulness begins with paying attention to breathing, in order to focus on the here and now. In the last few years mindfulness has emerged as a way of treating children and adolescents with conditions ranging from ADHD to anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, anger management issues, depression and stress. The benefits are proving very successful and have tremendous results.

76% of children, aged between 5-15 years suffer with depression

Mindfulness can help children and adolescents regulate their moods and behaviour and focus on learning. By encouraging children to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and breathing can help them access a natural sense of peace. Within our programs we incorporate mindfulness exercises, mindful visualisation and mindful games.

Like a good map to navigate stress and anxiety, Relax Kids resources can help young people problem-solve their way out of life's challenges"
Kevin Baskerville - Leicestershire Autism Outreach Service (IS) Manager

Meditation is a simple way to relax the mind and body, throughout the meditation process they will learn the correct breathing techniques which will help them cope with stressful situations.

Aromatherapy

A romatherapy can help children relax, be calm and promote a sense of balance. The children will be introduced to the world of aromatherapy through learning the history and the benefits of essentials oils. They will discover, in a fun way, the different types of oils, how to blend them correctly and experience certain scents with positive feelings.

Aromatherapy can help kids relax, support their digestive health and immune system and generally promote a sense of balance. Aromatherapy is ideal for children because they usually enjoy the experience and connect certain scents with positive feelings

Reflection

Promoting resilience in students – Strengthening the human spirit

It is increasingly recognised that developing emotional intelligence is a key part of helping children to become socially and educationally successful. A child with low self-esteem and confidence has difficulty in expressing their emotions appropriately, this creates significant barriers to their learning and social interaction, often resulting in exclusion of one form or another – in both the classroom and playground.

Counselling

Sometimes children and adolescents may need extra support in certain situations and if they are finding it difficult to deal with or understand their emotions and/or behaviour. Counselling children and adolescents involves helping the child to develop a positive attitude to life, recognise their inner strengths and help to express themselves.

Wellbeing and happiness are dependent on two things; the individual and their inner responses to life, and the circumstances to which they live. These actions will help to develop these areas

Child Counselling

It is probably obvious, even to people who have never been involved in counselling, that we cannot counsel children in the same way that we counsel adults.

As counsellors we engage with children so that they will talk freely about any painful issues, we use verbal counselling skills in conjunction with other strategies.

Adolescent Counselling

Working with young people can be challenging and sometimes they find it hard to engage. This program helps adolescents feel more focused, positive and helps them to express their emotions in a calm and nurturing environment.

Mentoring

Mentoring in schools helps to encourage children to identify issues surrounding self esteem, self image and develop a greater awareness of their own issues, making positive changes. Mentoring can be one to one or to a small group, helping children to gain a better sense of wellbeing and have a more positive outlook on life.
